Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with volunteering for the community. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of the nine children raised in Eufala by Lucious Selmon. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. All three made All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. In the three years that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth time of service consisted of ten hours a week of volunteer time in the college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started his career in the field of business. In 1988, he worked as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youngsters of the United States. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He captained his college team in 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
